Tags help you group your contacts in whatever way suits your firm, for example by service (Bookkeeping client), by stage (Prospect) or by partner. A contact can have as many tags as you like, and each tag has its own colour so you can spot it at a glance.
Tags replace the old contact groups. If you used groups before, you will find them as tags.
1. Create a tag
Click Contacts in the top menu, then Manage tags in the left-hand menu. Click the + button next to Contact tags, type a name, pick one of the ten colours and click Save.
2. Manage your tags
The Contact tags page lists every tag with the number of contacts that carry it. Click the count to see those contacts. For each tag you can:
switch on Show in menu to add the tag to the left-hand Contacts menu, so you can open that list in one click;
click the pencil icon to rename the tag or change its colour;
click the bin icon to delete the tag.
3. Tag a contact
Open a contact and type in Add a tag on the right. Choose an existing tag or create a new one. Press Enter to close the tag list when you are done.
4. Filter by tags
On All contacts, click + Filter and choose Tags. Tick the tags you want, then choose how to match them:
Any tag: contacts that have at least one of the selected tags;
All tags: only contacts that have every selected tag.
You can combine the tag filter with the Status, Organisation type and Has email filters. To clear it, open the filter and click Remove filter.
Good to know: tags also control what your team can see. See Limit which contacts a company role can see. And once you have filtered a list, you can message everyone on it. See Message your contacts.
